Duke Nukem Forever Review

=====================================================================

THE FINAL VERDICTS

=====================================================================

I don’t like to give a game just one rating. This stems from the fact that not all people perceive the same thing the same way. For example, a racing game, as a whole, may deserve a 7/10, yet for a racing fan or fan of the series, this same gamewould be a 9/10 in their book. So I like to consider all the options.
And, as always, a review is an opinion not a suggestion. Go out and try a game for yourself and form your own opinions. Who knows, you might like it.

TYPICAL GAMER RATING

*****************************************************************************************

PROS
  • You get to kill stuff
  • Bewbs
  • Jon St. Johns voice is awesome (just like him)
  • Its funny (depending on your sense of humor)
  • A deeper understanding of the philosophical views… wait, never mind
CONS
  • Bad design in certain levels
  • Graphics are kinda crappy at times
  • Voice acting (besides Duke) is usually bad
  • Too much repetitiveness
  • Too many freakin turret sequences
  • Story is a big cliche
  • Controls aren’t as solid as they could have been
  • Multiplayer isn’t anything special

FINAL SCORE

6/10

The average gamer might pick up this game just because of it’s historically long development time. They might be entertained by the crudeness at first (poop, boobs, violence) but will find the repetitiveness to be annoying. All in all, you shouldeither rent this game, wait til it’s on sale, or just don’t even mess with it.

DUKE NUKEM FAN RATING

*****************************************************************************************
PROS
  • ITS DUKE NUKEM!
  • It feels like a real Duke Nukem game
  • It’s prettier than Duke Nukem 3D
  • All the same kind of humor is back
  • Jon St. John’s amazing voice
  • Nostalgia

CONS
  • Too repetitive
  • Some bad level design
  • Too repetitive
  • Unnecessary platforming

FINAL SCORE

8.5/10

Most likely if your a Duke Nukem 3D fan, then you should be Duke Nukem Forever fan. Duke is bigger, badder, and more innapropriate than ever, the graphics aren’t crap, and the environmental interaction that was present in DN3D has been takento a whole new level. It’s like a mindless action movie, that you control, yay. However, bad design doesn’t just effect regular gamers so this won’t be the Duke Nukem game to end all Duke Nukem games.
